Fragile & Conflict Affected States
Over 1.5 billion of the world’s poorest people live in fragile and conflict-affected countries, where development goals are met with overwhelming challenges. While we recognise that most fragile and conflict affected states share similar development needs, we value and prioritise a tailored political economy approach to best deliver programming on a case-by-case basis.
Supporting DFID, the British Counsel General on Govt. & Salaries in Gaza
Location: Gaza, Palestinian Territories
We worked with the DFID Palestine office, the United Nations, and other bi-lateral and multi-lateral donors in order to develop a series of options for donors – in an effort to raise the requisite funding to support the emergency payment of civil service salaries; providing a much needed economic boost amidst the burgeoning humanitarian crises.
Our Focus
The focus of our work was very much around ongoing civil service reform – and dealing with the wage bill, institutional reorganisation and rationalisation, alongside a temporary mechanism for salary and welfare payments.
